Under the exchange of experts’ activity, in the frame of DG – ECHO funded project – Stronger Together – Cooperative Action to Respond to Cross-Border Emergencies, 4 members from Georgian and Armenian EMTs and 3 project staff participated in 22nd biennial World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM) Congress which took place from 9-12 May, 2023 in Killarney, Ireland.
The event represents excellent opportunity to share the best practices towards disaster medicine, prehospital care, and the health aspects of emergency management and complex humanitarian crises. The selected speakers from Georgian and Armenian delegation made project presentation, progress achieved by EMTs, existing challenges/bottlenecks, future plans and lessons learned. Moreover, the project had exhibition booth to present project visibility items.
The Congress had a specific focus on understanding emerging threats, their impact on current and future communities, as well as the important role of technology in disaster preparedness and response efforts. Experts from all continents participated in the event representing all areas of clinical health care, prehospital care, disaster medicine and response, emergency management /preparedness, and response and health administration. The Congress included highly experienced international and local speakers, as well as a range of interactive and innovative sessions.
