Self-defense courses for Georgian and Ukrainian Women and Youth

Self-defense courses for Georgian and Ukrainian Women and Youth

ASB Georgia, with its partner United Together (UT), SSK (The Samaritan Association of Georgia) and Judo Federation implements Self-defense courses for Georgian and Ukrainian Women and Youth. The primary objective of this initiative is to address the urgent challenges posed by gender-based and domestic violence while also promoting the integration of Ukrainians into Georgian society. Through Judo classes, women and youth receive essential self-defense and de-escalation skills, becoming more self-confident. These sessions are conducted by professional instructors who specialize in teaching self-defense techniques tailored to different age groups.

The classes focus not only on physical techniques but also on building confidence, assertiveness, and situational awareness. Participants learn how to recognize potential threats, de-escalate confrontations, and use physical techniques effectively if necessary. The de-escalation sessions also emphasize the importance of setting boundaries and promoting healthy relationships.

The self-defense classes were launched in October in Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi. The classes will run for 18 months. The project is financed by German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO).
