Students From #195 School Visited ASB Georgia

As part of the "Seitenweise" project, which aims to cultivate a love of reading, encourage personalized reading experiences, and spark interest in contemporary German-language youth literature, ASB Georgia’s director Clemens von Heimendahl hosted the 9th and 10th-grade students from #195 school. Within the project, the students read and discussed book titled “Dazwischen: Wir”, dealing with first-hand experiences of migration and the feeling of being foreign in a new country.

The students used the opportunity learn about ASB Georgia’s projects and the Ukrainian refugees who left their country due to the war. The comparisons were made between Ukrainians’ experiences in the country and the struggles faced by the family described in the book. Unlike the book however, Ukrainians in Georgia feel more welcomed, receive support, and have access to safe living conditions. The students noted ASB Georgia’s cash transfer program, which not only provides the Ukrainian beneficiaries money to use as they see fit, but also informational and psychological support with the help of Hresnics.
