Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is a German welfare organization that works with social groups that are vulnerable or marginalized with special attention to children, older persons and persons with disabilities. ASB launched its operations in Georgia in 1992 focusing on activities to strengthen social services, to support the IDP population, to engage in activities to build resilience and inclusive disaster risk reduction (iDRR), and to support Georgian Samaritan Association (SSK).

ASB is currently seeking a Communications Officer.

Duration: 12 months (Extendable depending on performance)
Start-date: As soon as possible
 

Description of position:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Officer to manage our external and internal communications, who will promote a positive public image and control the dissemination of information on ASB`s behalf.

The Communication Officer will be responsible for the following:

** Update and implement ASB`s internal and external communication strategy;
** Oversee and develop media relations together with contracted PR agencies;
** Edit, update and maintain ASB Georgia`s webpage and social media pages (Facebook, Twitter);
** Write articles and news features in collaboration with the program coordinators;
** Initiate and develop branded visibility materials;
** Develop communications strategies and plans for each project together with program coordinators and ensure their implementation;
** Develop terms of reference for external PR agencies and coordinate their work;
** Contribute to ASB`s global communication activities;
** Maintain the communication with the ASB HQ PR department and other units as needed;
** Create quarterly newsletters for ASB HQ;
** Prepare monthly updates for ASB HQ and share the relevant information in a proper way;
** Maintain communication with the media;
** Maintain communication with the donor organizations (EU, US Government, Canadian Government etc.);
** Carry out other duties as needed.

The position will be full-time.

Place of work: ASB Office in Tbilisi
Reporting: Reports to Country Director

Qualifications:

A degree, or working towards a degree in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Mass Communication, or related and relevant subjects, or relevant work experience.

Skills:

** At least three years of traceable working experience in the above listed areas of responsibilities
** Excellent writing and communication skills in English and Georgian
** Previous experience managing a website including content managing and editing, content upload, some web design skills will be an asset
** Basic graphic design and layout skills for publications
** Highly developed networking skills of dealing with the media (press, online, audio-visual)
** Knowledge and experience of the sector
** Strong computer skills, especially web and social media related
** Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to the target audience in a manner that engages them and allows them to better participate in ASB`s PR, communications and visibility activities
