“Girls United Against Violence” at the Batumi Sport Palace

ASB Georgia, in collaboration with its partners—UT, SSK, and the Judo Federation—organized a large-scale self-defense event titled “Girls United Against Violence” at the Batumi Sport Palace.

The event featured a self-defense masterclass for Ukrainian and Georgian women and children, led by Georgia’s Youth Olympic champion Mate Gvelesiani, alongside Toma Gelashvili.

“I am from Ukraine, and this kind of activity helps us integrate in Georgia. We learned self-defense and de-escalation techniques. It is not easy to start a new life in a new city and country, but these skills help boost our children’s and our self-confidence when we are on the streets. It supports us, Ukrainian women in Georgia, a lot. And as we see, our children enjoyed it too,” shared Olena, 48, one of the participants, after the session.

At the end of the event, each participant received a certificate of participation.

The event was made possible through the financial support of the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO).
