As part of the RISE project — Reducing Inequality and Supporting Empowerment for Women in Crises — ASB Georgia is launching the Vocational Education and Training (VET) component in the Samegrelo region. The VET training starts on May 4 and continue through July.
The VET component will support 30 women and girls by equipping them with practical, market-relevant skills designed to improve both employment and self-employment opportunities.
Training in Samegrelo will be delivered in three main areas: beauty and aesthetics (cosmetology, hairstyling, makeup, manicure/pedicure, eyelash extensions, and permanent makeup), sewing and tailoring, as well as baking and culinary skills.
These fields were selected based on local market demand and their potential for sustainable income generation. Each course combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice, enabling participants to gradually build both technical skills and professional confidence.
Preparations for the launch have officially been completed. To ensure smooth implementation, the Program Manager visited local vocational education and training providers and held working meetings focused on readiness for course delivery.
The visits aimed to confirm that all partner institutions are fully prepared to begin practical training. During the meetings, training plans were reviewed in detail, implementation timelines were discussed, training spaces were inspected, and key organizational arrangements were agreed upon with providers. This process ensures that participants will receive high-quality, well-structured training from the very beginning.
Through the VET component, the RISE project continues its commitment to supporting women in vulnerable situations by strengthening their skills, promoting economic independence, and expanding access to sustainable livelihood opportunities.
