RISE Georgia - Reducing Inequality and Supporting Empowerment for Women in Crises

RISE Georgia - Reducing Inequality and Supporting Empowerment for Women in Crises

Project Goal: The main goal of the project is to empower women and girls in crisis in western Georgia through targeted social and economic support. The project target beneficiaries are the survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), internally displaced persons (IDPs), migrants and women in crisis.

Project Description: The project’s effect in Georgia is twofold: it has strengthened institutional cooperation through MoUs and municipal engagement, while simultaneously anchoring change at the community level through Self-help Groups (SHGs), counselling centers, and targeted awareness campaigns. This multi-level approach ensures that prevention, protection, and empowerment are not temporary interventions but are embedded into local systems and community practices.

Donor: The Republic of Austria, represented by the Federal Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Care, and Consumer Protection.

Partners: The project will be implemented in close cooperation with the Samaritan Association of Georgia (SSK), local municipalities, businesses, and companies, as well as other partners in the regions.

Project Duration: October 2024 – March 2026

Project Area: Ajara, Samegrelo, and Guria regions.
