Stronger Together - Cooperative Action to Respond to Cross-Border Emergencies

Starting from February 2021, ASB office in Georgia implements the project “Stronger Together - Cooperative Action to Respond to Cross-border Emergencies between Georgia and Armenia” funded by Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO). The aim of the project is to enhance disaster risk management system with special focus on health emergencies in Armenia and Georgia through capacity building and establishing cross border cooperation mechanisms.  

The specific objectives of the project include: 

  1. Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) in Georgia and Armenia can better and more effectively respond to health emergencies during disasters. 
  2. Cross border cooperation during disasters and health emergency is enhanced. 

The project strives to achieve the following expected results: 

  1. National response capacities for disaster risk management and health emergencies are reinforced through capacity building of EMTs in Georgia and Armenia. 
  2. The multi-stakeholder platform is created at national levels to ensure dialogue and partnership in terms of prevention, preparedness and response to disasters with special focus on public health emergencies.  
  3. Cross border and regional cooperation in DRR and Health Sector in South Caucasus Region is improved. 

At the end of the project EMTs will be established in Georgia and Armenia, satisfying all necessary standards defined by WHO and pass the global classification process.
