Diana and her family arrived in Yerevan from Nagorno-Karabakh in September 2023. Their family of five, including three children aged 3, 7, and 11, now live in a single room within a factory building.
“We barely manage to meet primary needs because nobody works in the family,” Diana explained. The challenges are compounded by the difficulty in finding employment. Diana’s primary responsibility is caring for her young children, making it almost impossible for her to seek work. Her husband, previously employed in seasonal work, now faces unemployment, adding to their financial strain.
The family has managed to survive thanks to the assistance from non-governmental organizations. In their first months in Yerevan, targeted assistance from the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) played a vital role. “It was very targeted assistance from ASB; we received this aid in our first months when we arrived here. With the support of ASB, we bought food and essential items,” Diana said.
Since 2023 in Armenia, ASB, in partnership with Mission Armenia and Action Against Hunger, has implemented the project titled "Cash Transfers and Psychosocial Support to the Displaced Population from Nagorno-Karabakh”, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO).
