Strengthening Emergency Response: Full-Scale EMT Exercise Conducted in Armenia

On 18–19 December, ASB, in partnership with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, conducted a full-scale Emergency Medical Team (EMT) exercise in Armenia, focused on strengthening emergency medical response capacities.

The exercise enabled participants to apply in practice the skills, standard operating procedures, and knowledge gained during earlier EMT capacity-building training. The full-scale simulation was built around a major earthquake scenario in Georgia, providing a realistic and demanding operational environment.

The scenario simulated a mini deployment life cycle within an international response mission, tailored to the Armenian EMT Type 1 (fixed) capability. In addition to clinical operations, the exercise addressed public health challenges and required participants to adapt to a complex, diverse, and multi-layered operational context.

The event was organized under the project “Stronger Together – Cooperative Action to Respond to Cross-Border Emergencies in Georgia and Armenia,” funded by the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO).
