International Day for Disaster Reduction 2025

Since 2012, ASB Georgia and Armenia have been building safer and more resilient communities through Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) and Disaster Risk Management (DRM) projects. We help communities stay safe, become prepared, and respond strong and professional to emergencies.

From school classrooms and kinder gardens, we empower children, IDPs, persons with disabilities, as well as urban and rural partners to take charge of their own safety. In Georgia, 53 500 preschool children were trained in the past years  in preparedness, reaction and where possible prevention. Children serve as little ambassadors, who carry the message back home and help to widen the spread of preparedness information. And they really like and enjoyed that!

Today, ASB continues to strengthen cooperation, exchange knowledge, and promote resilience as a shared goal across borders under the project “Stronger Together – Cooperative Action to Respond to Cross-Border Emergencies in Georgia and Armenia.” Through field exercises, training, awareness-raising, and advocacy, we ensure that everyone has the tools and confidence to protect themselves and their communities.

Together, we can build a future where resilience is funded - not disasters, the global theme for this year’s International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.
